Barça Ready for Historic Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host the Basque side in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans are permitted inside under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Stadium Testing
Barcelona held an open training session inside the stadium on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
